HORRIFIC LEG INJURY MEANS PAUL GEORGE WILL BE SIDELINED FOR THE UPCOMING NBA SEASON

George had a successful surgery with no additional damage so it is likely he will be back in the game next year. Like many players before him, George should be hyper-aware of how suddenly injuries can occur and how much damage they can cause. A career-ending injury is always around the corner, which has many pro-athletes invested in disability insurance to secure their income.

Losing Paul George for the season will be a strong setback to the Pacers: “Prior to being dealt this crushing blow, Indiana’s offseason had already yielded more questions than answers. The Pacers are coming off as disappointing a 56-win campaign as the NBA had seen in recent memory. Finger-pointing, in-fighting and anemic offensive production saw the promise of a 46-13 start to the 2013-14 season wilt over a 13-13 close to the campaign,” (Paul George Injury Changes Everything About Indiana Pacers’ Future: Bleacher Report, August 4, 2014).

“As a possible $20 million a year player, I hope George can heal up and get back in the game as soon as possible, especially when he is one of the most powerful players on the team this season,” states Frank N. Darras, America’s disability insurance lawyer to the pros. “He’ll also want to be careful about how he protects his income. A private disability insurance policy would go a long way towards keeping him financially secure in case he is unable to go back to basketball. George has a very strong character, however, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw him back in the game sooner than expected.”

Individual disability insurance with own-occupation coverage is one of the most important types of insurance an athlete can have. Injuries are all too common in sports and no athlete wants to be caught unaware. A disability insurance policy can guarantee a certain amount in benefits after an athlete suffers a career-ending injury. An own-occupation disability policy can provide those benefits while allowing the policyholder to seek another form of employment, making this ideal for many star athletes.

“We all want to see athletes succeed at their sport and contribute to their team but sometimes things just don’t work out as planned. That is why disability insurance is so important not only to athletes but to the millions of people across the country who earn a living. People are injured every day and I want everyone to speak with a talented insurance agent to get them the disability insurance policy they deserve. Protect your family by preparing for financial disaster now before it’s too late,” says Darras.
