Do You Need Travel Insurance this Holiday Season?
Most folks don’t think much of travel insurance, until the unexpected happens and wish they had it. This is especially true during the holiday season when there are more expenses like gifts competing for dollars.
In this episode of the DarrasLaw Podcast, Frank Darras, America’s top disability attorney, shares his insight into when it makes sense to invest in travel insurance and when you can politely say, “No, Thank You” to the offer.
According to Darras, a major factor determining whether or not you should buy trip interruption insurance is based on the price of the ticket. If you’ve managed to get a good deal on a domestic flight online there’s less incentive to purchase insurance since you won’t be out too much money if you’re unable to make a flight.
However, if you’re planning a longer and more expensive vacation then insurance is recommended. In the event that you get sick, have a family emergency, get called for jury duty or simply miss a flight you’ll be thankful that you invested a little bit of money to hedge a bet against the unexpected.
Another reason to consider travel insurance is if you’re elderly or have a health condition that limits travel. If your risk of not being able to make that special trip is high, make sure to take preventative measures to avoid a complete financial loss.
All this and Gary Pozsik of Health, Wealth, and Happiness adds his perspective to the conversation as well.
