MANY GENERATION Y WORKERS DON’T HAVE DISABILITY INSURANCE

Despite the fact that most people realize the importance of having disability insurance, many never take the time to consider what they should be buying, as well as the type of coverage they can pass on for the time being.

Regardless of if you are one of our California readers or live in another part of the country, you should realize that many generation Y workers do not have an individual disability insurance policy. These policies can protect them and their family should something harm their ability to make a living in the future.

According to researched compiled by MetLife’s 10th Annual Study of Employee Benefits Trends, roughly 50 percent of generation Y workers who participated in the survey said they have disability insurance. For the other half, if they were to be injured or struck with an illness it would put them, as well as their loved ones, in a difficult financial situation.

Even though half of those surveyed have disability insurance coverage, it is important that these people make sure they have enough coverage should something bad happen. Believe it or not, of those involved in the survey, 40 percent had no idea what percentage of their income is covered by their policy. These people know they have a policy, but don’t really know what it would do for them.

Anybody who does not have disability insurance should consider buying a policy. Those who have coverage but have run into an issue with their provider paying what is due to them should contact an experienced legal professional who can protect their rights and help them get the benefits they deserve.
