LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE ISN’T JUST ABOUT NURSING HOMES
We understand that most people want to stay at home rather than move into an assisted-living or nursing home facility as they grow older. After living a long, full life, it is understandable that you would rather maintain your independence or seek any needed assistance from family members or close friends.
The good news is that long-term care policies may help family members become caregivers through benefits that flow through to these at-home caregivers. But, you must be mindful of the exact language of your policy. At DarrasLaw, we offer free policy analysis and are here to help.
An important consideration in taking out any long-term care policy, in addition to who may be paid as your caregiver, is the length of time the policy will last as well as the amount of benefits it will provide. There’s no way to know exactly what health care costs will be years from now, but you can control how much per day your LTC policy will cover and whether there will be a cost-of-living adjustment to your benefits on an annual basis.
