Parents love their kids, no matter what. Still, certain circumstances can make parenting extremely stressful. High levels of stress do not make for less love. Stress might, however, mean that parents of disabled kids particularly should consider buying disability insurance.
A recent study reveals that the stresses experienced by disabled kids’ parents have measurable health effects. Researchers studied the blood pressure of parents with and without special needs children, and though the results were not altogether shocking, they more solidly identify potential health risks for families with disabled kids.
According to the study, moms and dads who care for special needs children have higher blood pressure throughout the whole day than parents with fully able kids. High blood pressure can lead to various health issues such as heart problems, issues that certainly could put a parent out of work.
Parents of disabled kids in particular are likely to have extra expenses in order to care for their children. If a health condition keeps them from working, potential loss of income could have a big impact on the well-being of a child. Getting disability payments could do wonders for the stress level of parents as well as the quality of care that a special needs child receives.
Parenting is difficult, no matter what. As much as it is nice to think that love is enough to care for children, money is crucial.
